The horn has a big fat, dark sound and plays well in tune - though the intonation is not as good as on the pro Yamaha, Yanigasawa or Selmer horns. As far as the Vintage finish, you love it or you don't - it is what it is. The pads are excellent quality - Italian Pisoni leather pads with metal resonators. They are sturdy instruments that will hold up to plenty of use. The horn has some large components from Germany, but many parts were sourced from the Amati saxophone company in Czech Republic to reduce costs. The neck is basically exactly the same as the SX90R and contributes to that robust, Keilwerth sound. It takes the big bell and bow from the SX90R, and pairs it with a newly designed body tube and compact, French style (Mark VI) key-work.
